Amazing Facts International and GB Church with our team of AFCOE instructors are going on a soul-winning mission trip to the Dominican Republic, located in the Caribbean, to bring help, healing, and the hope of Christ to its 10 million precious people in these last days.
As a missionary, you can help build a new church, attend our evangelistic seminars, participate in a VBS program for children, and help provide basic health and dental services to those in need.
On Saturday, April 5, 2025, Pastor Doug Batchelor will present God’s Word on the campus of the Universidad Adventista Dominicana in Villa Sonadar, kicking off a powerful campaign of missionary outreach and evangelism events.
Then, beginning April 7, the missionary, evangelism, and training work will begin in earnest, including providing a free VBS outreach for children; building a new church; offering dental and medical services in an impoverished community; giving AFCOE training to local pastors and leaders; and presenting more than ten simultaneous evangelistic events throughout the country.
Pastor Doug will conclude the trip by preaching on Saturday, April 12, a “Brotherhood Sabbath” at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center. We’re expecting about 12,000 people from different parts of the country to join us for worship and to celebrate the souls who will joyfully descend into the waters of baptism!
In collaboration with the Maranatha Ministry in Santo Domingo, our mission team will build a church for nearly 70 members. The congregation currently rents a small space for worship, fellowship, and ministry within its community. The church is excited about our support in helping them realize their dream of having their own building, which will enable them to grow. In addition, we will be helping to restore another local church.
We will provide four days of free medical and dental services to a poor community in Santo Domingo, which lacks access to proper medical care.
We will present a special program at a public school in the area—an opportunity to teach children of different ages about Jesus.

Cordillera Central
The Cordillera Central is the highest mountain range in the Caribbean. Known as the “Dominican Alps,” it runs through the central part of the country and features Pico Duarte, the highest peak at 10,128 feet. The region is characterized by lush forests, rivers, and diverse wildlife and is a popular destination for hiking and exploring picturesque towns, such as Jarabacoa and Constanza. It also serves as a vital water source for the country.
Solenodon
Solenodons are small, nocturnal mammals found primarily in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. These ancient creatures are part of the order Eulipotyphla, making them distant relatives of shrews and hedgehogs. Solenodons are unique for their elongated snouts and venomous bite, delivered through grooves in their lower incisors—a rare trait among mammals.
Gravity Hill in Polo
The small town of Polo in the southwest features one of the world’s “gravity hills,” where the landscape plays tricks on your senses. If you put your car in neutral on a seemingly uphill slope, it will appear to roll uphill. But you’re not really defying gravity—this phenomenon is an optical illusion created by the unique layout of the road and surrounding scenery. It's a delightful and memorable experience!
Humpback Whales
Humpback whales are near the Dominican Republic in April, particularly the Silver Bank area and Samana Bay, one of the prime locations for humpback whale watching. These whales migrate to the warm waters of the Caribbean during the winter and early spring months for breeding and calving. During this time, you may witness the whales engaging in behaviors such as breaching, tail-slapping, and mothers swimming with their calves.
Dominican Beaches
The Dominican Republic is renowned for its stunning beaches, which are some of the most beautiful in the Caribbean. The country boasts more than 800 miles of coastline, with beaches ranging from the vibrant shores of Punta Cana to the serene, unspoiled stretches of the Samana Peninsula. The beaches feature powdery white sand, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and are often lined with swaying palm trees. Popular activities include snorkeling, diving, and sunbathing. Beaches like Bávaro, Macao, and Playa Rincón offer diverse experiences for beach lovers.
